Stephanie Gilmore drops in a SUP Stand up Paddle boarder Feb 2015 Snapper Rocks Gold Coast Australia Cyclone Swells and fun to be had at my home Snapper Rock Gold Coast QLD. Swell on the surf report was 4-6 ft. Water is warm and no wetsuit required. Only a wet shirt for sun protection. Definitely white for summer as the sun here on the Gold Coast is so strong. Any other colour and you will be too hot. Black for winter.  This is the first time I went to take photos of surfing, with my new toy a Nikon. As I'm short sighted I couldn't tell which girl surfer I had taken photos of. Wow I was surprised when I got home and realized it was Stephanie Gilmore the 6 x world champion womens's surfer.  Let me give you the run down of these pics. It was a big day. I surfed on the high tide where the waves are easy to take off and more forgiving. Then as lunchtime approached and low tide. I thought perfect I'll head to Snapper Rocks. It always amazes me how people can be in s...

First Triathlon in 21 years Gold Coast Triathlon Luke Harrob Memorial

Awesome, difficult and fun. Luke Harrop Memorial Triathlon Gold Coast 1/5/2011 Enticer. Completed by me in under 1 hour. Cost $55 I did some some  short distance tris when I was in my 20's and I didn't mind wearing 2 piece sports bikini for the whole event. Now 20 years later its a whole different ball game. I need padded bike pants so my glutes don't hurt. I need a singlet so I don't get sunburnt. SWIM -300 m- everybody had those one piece 3/4 thigh Trisuits. Priced some $250, can you surf in them also -NO because sand will damage it. Its designed to be sleek and repel heat and go though the water. Anyway the only one piece cossie I had was my blue Lifeguard one from Seaworld. With a large "lifeguard" written on the behind. Lucky none wanted me to save them! I felt so expose showing my thighs when everyone else had there 3/4 leg trisuits on. Did fantastic in the swim came in with some girls from the heat before. I had technique I started at the back and...

Good Morning, its 5 am and still dark. I love to blog early when noone is awake. Hubby is already off to work. The lovely kids are still sleeping. My curtain is open hoping to glimpse the morning sun rays when they arrive. It looks like the southerly winds kicked in yesterday and the swell may have arrived again, after a 1 week rest. Those sore back and shoulder muscles are recovering. There has been so much surf. It was like clockwork February 1st - the waves rolled in. I kept telling all those lovely Surfing Mums Feb- Mar is cyclone swell season and the swells will come. They looked at me in disbelief as they started at the crystal clear lake with the ripples lapping on the shore. The swell came and left and its due back for the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro that will start tomorrow,Friday the 26th of Feb, if there are waves. Even though its dark here at my house. I just had a look at the Coastalwatch surf Cam for Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay The swell hasn't come yet, it...

SALTY Surfer Girl Gold Coast QLD Australia

Here I am living in Paradise. Literally a surfers paradise. We have the best waves in the world right here on my doorstep. I've traveled and lived all over the world- only places that have surf, of course! Some of my favorite surf locations are: Costa Rica, Mexico, Indonesia (although I won't go there now I have family to protect too many bombings). Its been been flat, and more flat all summer. I kept telling all the Surfing Mums" Feb to March there will be swell- in our cyclone season". Just like clockwork on Feb 1st 2010 the waves came. Since then we have had 2 great swells. I caught some waves at Greeny that were so long my legs ached. How can you explain this joy to someone that doesn't surf! Everything has to be right; the swell, the wind -glassy of course, the crowds, have to sit in the right spot in the lineup. Then Wham Bam the best waves of my life. I love it, yes I'm a surf stoked loving surfer.
