Surfing Mums  and some surfing History about me Salty Surfing Mums Group : Gold Coast QLD- Coolangatta Surfing Mums I also used to go to the Alley Surfing Mums. Time surfed: I started surfing when I was 15 year old on a standup board. I grew up at Bondi Beach a place with the worst surf and  the biggest crowd. In summer you can't even find a place to put your towel. I did all my schooling there. I was always at the beach body surfing and using a surf mat then a boogie board. I was scared that the fiberglass board would hit me that's why I didn't start till I was 15. There were no surf school back then so I learned to stand on my knees first that took 6 months and then stand up another 6 months. I remember catching the whitewash and just dreaming about being able to go out the back and blend in not look like a kook. That's one of the reasons I coached surfing for years because you can learn to stand in 1 hour. Back then there were hardly any girls that surfed a...

Supportive Parent or Pushy Parent? | Turning Point: The Official Dr. Phil Blog This is a good article from Dr Phil, about how he raised his boys who are now grown up. I do this with my kids let them try different things. They stick what they enjoy. My son had been doing tennnis since he was 4 years old, all his friends quit. He persisted it didn't worry him that he didn't know the other kids in the class. I admired him for this as it show he really loves the sport itself. He has just started competition tennis and it is quite overwhelming. He doesn't really know the rules only that you have to hit the ball within the lines. His first match up was against the coaches son who is the same age as him. Somehow he won. The coaches son was very upset he was arguing with the umpires 12 to 15 year olds and later he even kicked my son. luckily I was there I called over his Mum to intervene. The other matches or rounds as the coach says were against 9 year olds , kids 2 years older....

Coastalwatch :: surfcams :: Rainbow Bay

Coastalwatch :: surfcams :: Rainbow Bay The lines are there the tide is high. The surf is coming and its only going to improve for as we get towards the 1pm low tide. I made some choc chip, banana, oat, nut, and seed cookies they are so good. I'll bring them down to share with the lovely Surfing Mums at Rainbow Bay. Its going to be such an exciting vibe down there today. The Quicksilver Roxy Pro is starting. Last when I was surfing a huge swell that rolled in, I spoke to this guy with bracers on. He had a big smile with those nice metal munchers inside. " Is it hard to get out Snapper I asked him?" Sometimes when its big, and especially near low tide you can get absolutely creamed and pushed out on to rocks trying to get out Snapper. He said it was OK, pretty easy. His name was Vasco, hes from Portugal and he's here for the Burleigh Breaka Pro that just finished and the Quicksilver. I got to speak to him him Portugese which is always fun. Go Vasco I'll be che...

Good Morning, its 5 am and still dark. I love to blog early when noone is awake. Hubby is already off to work. The lovely kids are still sleeping. My curtain is open hoping to glimpse the morning sun rays when they arrive. It looks like the southerly winds kicked in yesterday and the swell may have arrived again, after a 1 week rest. Those sore back and shoulder muscles are recovering. There has been so much surf. It was like clockwork February 1st - the waves rolled in. I kept telling all those lovely Surfing Mums Feb- Mar is cyclone swell season and the swells will come. They looked at me in disbelief as they started at the crystal clear lake with the ripples lapping on the shore. The swell came and left and its due back for the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro that will start tomorrow,Friday the 26th of Feb, if there are waves. Even though its dark here at my house. I just had a look at the Coastalwatch surf Cam for Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay The swell hasn't come yet, it...
