Heat Review - Roxy Pro Gold Coast 2012

So you don't have to watch the whole heat. Talk about great technology.

This year the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro didn't get the great glassy and big swells it had on other previous years. Most days were onshore choppy and smallish.

I would go for a surf and think this is terrible then I went up to watch what the Pros did with it and it was mind blowing. They are so good.

The council happily helped out by pumping sand onto Snapper Rocks . this gave some fast barrels on the take off spot behind the rock.

The Freebies this year

Were great as they always are. We all love a freebie.

I got stacks of stickers "Best" and you fill in the blanks with free permanent markers. Ok I did have to work to find these by just asking in the Quiksilver shop.

They had free 5 blade shavers. Free surf mags. Free vegemite toast which was nice on some of the rainy days.

Roxy this year set up a girls tent on the beach with beanbags and free manicures. Fun. On the first day the manager was really nice saying it was a place for girls to hang out at the beach. Glorious a place for girls, I have a

young daughter. The next time I went there; Kelly Slater was surfing and the beach was choc a block. The lady manager then said, no you have to be a Roxy girl to sit on the shaded tent area. What a let down for Roxy. It

went from the best tent to BAD vibes place. There were lots of locals she asked to move, they were all saying they were going to blast her on Facebook. So I moved away fast. I did return to the tent another day. I just

changed clothes and avoided eye contact with her. Come on Roxy support your customers.


Congrats to our local girl winner Stephanie Gilmore, also to another Aussie Taj Burrows. Not sure what happened to Kelly slater the most amazing and best surfer of all time.

Michael Hutchence - Memories of a great Australian band INXS - INXS - 03 - Never Tear Us Apart  I went to a concert when I was still in High School. It was at Coogee Bay Hotel - surprise concert. Inxs were so famous this was a real small gig. My friend Vanessa and I got our dads to take us. The  the tickets were sold out. My friend started crying, and the doorman let us in. I remember, we somehow pushed our way to the front and I reached out and touched Michael Hutchences' Robin hood style boot. The actual thrill of being so close to a superstar. Brilliant, Finland is Brilliant Teach by Topic not subject!!!! No more you are going to Maths then science then English.  This is relevant to mathematics.  I remember high school maths. Sin Cos and Tan Triangles, I was like whats the point,  If it was applied to the study of Ancient Egypt and measuring of the size of the pyramids, so now you have Geography, ancient history and maths, Add in something about the curse of the pharaohs, curse believed to be cast on any person who disturbs the mummy of an Ancient Egyptian person, especially a pharaoh. King Tuts grave- and you add in science with the study of bacteria or spores that allegedly killed the grave diggers. How interesting would the class be! I would want to go back to high school. Or you could study the 9/11 twin towers disaster in NY. How could an engineer design a building to withstand the hit of an aeroplane, without the whole thing collapsing.
