Quiksilver Pro - Gold Coast, Australia, Feb 26th - Mar 10th Check out the Quiksilver Pro live right now. Snapper Rocks again. Its 2:27pm here on the Gold Coast Australia. Just spoke to my friend in Indiana USA so I know its 9:27 pm there, so tune on in. My son is sick with a cold and my hubby actually came home early from Brisbane. I thought I might be able to go surfing. But alas when you have a surfing hubby- he wants to go surfing. Here's a tip. If you hubby doesn't surf don't teach him. Then you can actually get to surf more! No only joking- I'm glad we can share the joy of the ocean and surfing with our kids and each other. So here I am watching the Quiksilver Pro live- talk about awesome technology. So clear better then being on the beach watching. No crowds and fab filming. Love it!!!

DO NOT go to the beach!!!!Land and Marine Tsunami Warning - Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre (JATWC)SHOULD I GO SURFING?

I have just heard the surf report on the radio. Don't go to the beach Tsunami Warning. Caused by an earthquake in Chile. I have never ever heard this before in my LIFE: " Do not go to the beach- tidal waves" How scary is that my hubby has just gone for an early at Rainbow. This must be part of the new marine warning systems they have. The Quicksilver Pro has been cancelled today. There is no wind and the sun is shining. Yesterdays rain has stopped, the perfect surf day. I can even go out at Snapper as the contest is off. My son has a cold and so the kids were going to stay home anyway. When hubby comes back it is going to be my chance to surf. On my own without worrying about kids and time. What should I do? Should I go to for a surf? Leave me a comment what do you thinK? Kelly Slater The Best Surfer in the World. Quiksilver Pro - Heats on Demand - ROUND 1

Quiksilver Pro - Heats on Demand - ROUND 1 Check out Kelly Slater in this first round, heat 5- unbelieveable! He was so radical they haven't even filmed the whole wave. I was there on the beach at Snapper watching in Disbelief, with all the other 1000s of people. He first took the deepest drop, made the tube. Then he did two 360 decree turns and rode all the way to the top of the rocks at Rainbow- Little Marley as some people call it. The best surfer in the world - WOW!

More places I travelled+ The Quicksilver and Roxy pro+ Snake.

Tahiti We went there last year on the way to Brazil. Gorgeous Island . Stayed on the main Island of Tahiti itself. Gorgeous reef to snorkel in at the local beach. Lovely French language. Loved it! New Zealand North Island Saw the famous left hander Raglands. It was freezing so I didn't surf there. Snowboard here for the first time, actually found skiing easier. I would always lean back to turn like in surfing. As as I did this I would fall. The Quicksilver and Roxy pro Rocked today. Such great surfing from the guys and the girls. Us Surfing Mums sat under the Roxy tent- nice shade. Will down again tomorrow. Hope to see you there. Snake of the surfer kind- I paddled for a wave and the other surfing guy was right there in front of me. I said "sorry" as I could have easierly have hit him. You know what he did. He paddles to inside of the wave and he tried to snake me. There was someone who dropped in on me also. There we are all 3 on the wave. The one in front of me dropp

Coastalwatch :: surfcams :: Rainbow Bay

Coastalwatch :: surfcams :: Rainbow Bay The lines are there the tide is high. The surf is coming and its only going to improve for as we get towards the 1pm low tide. I made some choc chip, banana, oat, nut, and seed cookies they are so good. I'll bring them down to share with the lovely Surfing Mums at Rainbow Bay. Its going to be such an exciting vibe down there today. The Quicksilver Roxy Pro is starting. Last when I was surfing a huge swell that rolled in, I spoke to this guy with bracers on. He had a big smile with those nice metal munchers inside. " Is it hard to get out Snapper I asked him?" Sometimes when its big, and especially near low tide you can get absolutely creamed and pushed out on to rocks trying to get out Snapper. He said it was OK, pretty easy. His name was Vasco, hes from Portugal and he's here for the Burleigh Breaka Pro that just finished and the Quicksilver. I got to speak to him him Portugese which is always fun. Go Vasco I'll be che

Good Morning, its 5 am and still dark. I love to blog early when noone is awake. Hubby is already off to work. The lovely kids are still sleeping. My curtain is open hoping to glimpse the morning sun rays when they arrive. It looks like the southerly winds kicked in yesterday and the swell may have arrived again, after a 1 week rest. Those sore back and shoulder muscles are recovering. There has been so much surf. It was like clockwork February 1st - the waves rolled in. I kept telling all those lovely Surfing Mums Feb- Mar is cyclone swell season and the swells will come. They looked at me in disbelief as they started at the crystal clear lake with the ripples lapping on the shore. The swell came and left and its due back for the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro that will start tomorrow,Friday the 26th of Feb, if there are waves. Even though its dark here at my house. I just had a look at the Coastalwatch surf Cam for Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay The swell hasn't come yet, it

Surfing what it has given me- Travel, languages, My hubby

Surfing what it has given me- Travel, languages, My hubby This is the one I've been hangin to write all the time. Surfing has taken me around the world. Found me a hubby. Given me adventure, love , joy and happiness. As it continues to do to this day. Are you ready for the list of all the places I've surfed at and travelled too. All those great memories are going to come through and I'll just jot them in as they come: USA - California- San Diego, Trestles (came second in a surf contest there), Carlsbad, Huntington, Newport, Imperial beach (was a lifeguard at the kids summer camp- all those illegal Mexicans jogging in tracksuits when its boiling hot. They had just illegally crossed the border searching for the great American dream and a chance at a better life. Felt like I was in a movie "coming to America" with Cheech and Chong so funny worth renting. Mexico - Baja California (crossing the border going through immigration scary, too many horror stori

How I started surfing.

I always loved the beach, we grew at Bondi Beach Sydney Australia. That famous little clam shaped cove. I had to walk over a hill for about 10 minutes then I was there. My first surfing devise was a surf mat, you know what they are, they are back in again. Everything old is new again. That feeling of the cool refreshing ocean on a hot day- wow. Then to get the adrenaline rush of a wave- wahoo! Next came the boogie board /body board. faster more control on the wave. I could go out of the flagged area and surf were those scary fiber glass boards were. "Oh I'll never surf on one of those, they can hurt if I fall off". When I was 15 years old, my brother who loved break dancing at the time, (he would go basking with his ghetto blaster in the city outside the movies) got a Mark Richards Twin fin surfboard. It must be great it had 2 fins instead of 1. So I had a go! First I learned to kneel, about 6 months it took me. Thats why lessons for surfing are the best thing. You l

SALTY Surfer Girl Gold Coast QLD Australia

Here I am living in Paradise. Literally a surfers paradise. We have the best waves in the world right here on my doorstep. I've traveled and lived all over the world- only places that have surf, of course! Some of my favorite surf locations are: Costa Rica, Mexico, Indonesia (although I won't go there now I have family to protect too many bombings). Its been been flat, and more flat all summer. I kept telling all the Surfing Mums" Feb to March there will be swell- in our cyclone season". Just like clockwork on Feb 1st 2010 the waves came. Since then we have had 2 great swells. I caught some waves at Greeny that were so long my legs ached. How can you explain this joy to someone that doesn't surf! Everything has to be right; the swell, the wind -glassy of course, the crowds, have to sit in the right spot in the lineup. Then Wham Bam the best waves of my life. I love it, yes I'm a surf stoked loving surfer.
